Was it a successful year? Do you feel as though you accomplished what you wanted? Where did you fall short? And perhaps most importantly, how can you make even more successful? Some of those answers, of course, depend on how you define success. Like many, I grew up equating money and power with success, and for a time, that framed my definition. But as I've matured, that has changed. You see, success is a very personal thing.
What drives one entrepreneur may be radically different for another. And understanding how others measure success can help you better understand your own definition. For me, it's "Success is spending the majority of my time focused on work or tasks that are fulfilling, leveraging my Zone of Genius, maximizing my potential and helping other people in a meaningful way while providing the freedom, lifestyle and experiences that I desire". As we bid farewell to another year, I've been pondering these questions too.
Basically it is the results that we plan or expect to occur. Success is the positive consequence or outcome of an achieved accomplishment.
Accomplishment can be seen as the process to become successful and with every accomplished goal you take a step towards prosperity and a life full of success. Action is the foundational key to all success. Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other. Defeat is not the worst of failures. Not to have tried is the true failure. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.
Success is different for everyone. What success is for one person might be completely different for someone else, much like happiness. David, you are absolutely right! Every person has its own definition of success and values money differently. Success has been defined in various ways. Some say that it is the achievement of something desired fame, fortune, family, and etc. Others say that it is the attainment of inner peace.
For me, I used to believe that it about is being grateful for what life has unfolded. Success is the physical, spiritual,moral and social achievement attainded to fulfill life and that of others.

What good a success is, if it costs you happiness and joy. When you live life for your own enjoyment and happiness, success or failure does not matter. After all success and failure are just judgemental words. Those are always indications of others judgement about you. Do you really want to be judged by others? Instead of consciously trying for success just participate in everything your do for your own enjoyment and happiness and success or failure does not matter as long as you are happy and joyful for what you are living for.
We need to come up with a different word for success defined by yourself, or success defined for you by others. A failure is catastrophic when viewed by others if they are not on board with the goal you are trying to achieve. For you though, every fall is a lesson learnt to becoming better. Winning a big contract for your company might be seen as a good thing by your loved ones and colleagues, but might serve as a massive stumbling block to chasing your own dreams as it makes it harder to change directions.
