I believe that the American dream is alive and well. Definition The definition of the American dream is: This, to me, means that the American dream is the choice and opportunity to achieve any personal goals a person may have. The American dream is available and accessible to anyone who wants to achieve it and is willing to work to reach it.

America is all about freedom, and not judging or excluding anyone based on race, sex, sexual orientation, or religion. Everyone has an equal opportunity at reaching the American dream. Counter Argument However, there are many people who would disagree. The first reason is that there are many of people who are not rich, who are average or poor, who go to college.

Education from kindergarten to 12th grade is free so that everybody has an equal opportunity for success. Another reason would be that there are people who achieve the American dream every single day. People who put forth the little bit of extra effort needed to reach their personal goals in life.

If the American dream is dead, then why are there people who have the American dream? These people are the reason I believe that the American dream is still alive today. Support 1 The first reason I say that the American dream is accessible, is because of schooling.

School is free to anyone and everyone. We all have an equal opportunity to achieve greatness. Anyone can become a doctor or a lawyer because we all get the same education. Schools even offer options based on your interests. For an art credit there is not just one art class, instead there are classes like photography, drawing and painting, ceramics, welding, and culinary arts. For science they offer astronomy, chemistry, forensics, biology and human anatomy. They have colleges for specific career choices.

Despite this, the American Dream is just as relevant to American culture today as it was in the last century. In this essay, we will explore the American dream and just what it is. Next, we have the dream of a democracy of goods. This is the ability of everyone to purchase the goods of America, regardless of where they come from and who they are. It links back to the constitutional right of everyone to be free and equal. To fulfil this part of the constitution, the dream of a democracy of goods has to exist. The dream of freedom of choice is the third part of the American dream and, again, ties back in to the American constitution.

It allows people to fashion their own lifestyles using the goods on offer. Finally, we have the dream of novelty. This represents a broadening of consumer choice.
